GT1000 Freshman Seminar Team Leaders (TLs) provide a vital service for first year students new to college and to Georgia Tech. Experienced students can make the difference between success and struggle for first year students.

If you want to be a team leader, the basic commitment involves:

  • Attending EACH class for one hour.

  • Meeting weekly with the class instuctor to develop class activities and lessons.

  • Making yourself and your experience at Georgia Tech available to the members of your class and your team through offering positive advice, examples, and lessons learned.

  • Showing an interest in your students and supporting your team as a leader, mentor, and guide.

  • Contacting your students outside of class with reminders, encouragement and regular offers for assistance.

To be a team leader, you must have at least a 2.3 grade point average, at least 2 semesters at Georgia Tech, availability to attend class and staff meetings once per week (approximately 2 hours total), and positive experiences to share as a role model. You are not required to have taken the course, nor do you need prior leadership experience.
